Job Coach

• Coach, teach, monitor and provide support to individual at their work site.
• Provide individualized training to assist in the mastering of their assigned job duties.
• Identify and communicate potential barriers to the success of the individual.
• Provide guidance to in learning to integrate with other employees and environment.
• Assist in developing and enhancing communication with other employees and their supervisors.
• Assist in developing necessary skills to be successful in the workplace.
• Provide detailed and objective documentation of performance, establish short-term goals for improvement, monitor progress and provide regular feedback in accordance with established department/agency guidelines.
• Celebrate successes and identify areas for growth in order to be successful in the workplace.
• Communicate regularly with VIA staff.

• Exceptional interpersonal communication and writing abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer service.
• Effectively work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Energetic, flexible, patient and detail-oriented individual.
• Ability to think independently, problem solve and execute assigned tasks.

• NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation OR the ability to travel effectively within assigned geographic area required.
• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Previous successful work experience required.
• Experience working with people who are blind/visually impaired preferred but not required.
