Cost / Price Analyst
As the Cost / Price Analyst, you will support pricing strategies, cost evaluations, and financial assessments for contracts and procurement actions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost analysis, pricing models, and government or commercial acquisition practices. This role is critical in ensuring fair, reasonable, and compliant pricing decisions that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Functions :
- Analyze cost proposals, price quotations, and contract modifications to determine price reasonableness and cost realism
- Evaluate direct and indirect cost elements, labor rates, materials, overhead, and profit margins
- Develop independent government cost estimates (IGCEs) or internal cost estimates for pricing support
- Conduct market research and use historical data to support pricing decisions
- Review and assess contractor submissions for compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and other applicable regulations
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, legal, and technical teams during source selection and negotiations
- Prepare cost analysis reports, briefing materials, and pricing justifications for senior leadership or contracting officers
- Support audits, pricing reviews, and other compliance-related activities
- Assist in the development and refinement of pricing models, tools, and templates
Education & Experience :
A Bachelor's degree with a major in any field. Extensive knowledge or understanding in direct Federal procurement experience in GS-1102 series (or similar) capacity.Extensive knowledge or understanding of all phases of acquisition management.Extensive knowledge or understanding of federal and DoD contracting principles (Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)), DoD Directives and Instructions, laws, regulations, and procedures.Knowledge or understanding of price and cost analysis sufficient to review proposals against previous history, actual and estimates expenditures, and established rates to determine price reasonableness or to determine a negotiation position.Knowledge or understanding of the methods and techniques of fact-finding, analysis, and resolution of complex problems, and the ability to develop concrete action plans to solve problems.Specific knowledge or understanding of FAR Parts 15.4, 30, 31, and DFARS Parts 215.4, 530 and 534Knowledge & Skill :
Experience with government contracting or defense acquisitionKnowledge of DCAA / DCMA audit procedures and cost proposal evaluationDAWIA certification (Cost Estimating or Contracting), NCMA CPCM, or equivalent credentialsExperience supporting proposal development and pricing strategySecurity Clearance : Active Secret
