Description : RN's are expected to pass a skills exam with a score of 90% to avoid termination. Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas. Refusal to comply will result in termination of contract. A driver's license is required for identification purposes. Preferred candidates will have travel experience but strong candidates without this will also be considered. No prior license or background infractions will be accepted. This unit cares for patients with various medical / surgical issues, including telemetry patients. Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, and respiratory conditions. Nurses may be required to titrate specific drips. There is a charge nurse on each shift, but the role also includes taking an assignment. Patient care techs are available to assist with a ratio of 1 to 10-20. Telemetry technicians will interpret strips, though RN’s should have basic monitoring awareness. Travelers will be scheduled for shifts; limited block scheduling is available.
