Mechanisms Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to join a Federal Program located in Midland, Texas. The Mechanisms Engineer will be responsible for development of assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) of various space-flight mechanisms for the deployment of a satellite constellation

Responsibilities for the Mechanisms Engineer:

• Participates in iterative mechanism design improvements based upon their findings in test and production
• Perform tests and lead test teams. Develop testing requirements, materials, processes, and tooling (vibration, shock, TVAC, assembly).
• Participate in and execute design, analysis, and system trade studies to determine mechanism AI&T at system and spacecraft levels in terms of workflow simplicity, efficiency of handling and integration, test accommodation, and production speed.
• Provides inputs to Design Engineering to optimize the manufacturing flow, cost and layout, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials
• Provides product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information; soliciting observations from operators and technicians

Qualifications of the Mechanisms Engineer:

• Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Preferred: 2+ years previous experience as an aerospace or similar manufacturing engineer
• Knowledge/experience of mechanism development and testing for space hardware
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with other engineers
• Must be a US citizen or have permanent resident card
