Description

The Mechanical Engineer will serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary project team supporting facilities and infrastructure projects at a site in Niskayuna, NY. This position provides technical expertise throughout all phases of project execution, from concept development and design through construction and commissioning. The successful candidate will ensure that all engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and site procedures, while delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions that support mission needs.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop project scope in collaboration with project sponsors, facility operations, and site stakeholders.
• Prepare or support preparation of design documentation, specifications, engineering calculations, and cost estimates.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of architectural and engineering firms developing concept designs, construction documents, and cost proposals.
• Provide technical oversight during construction, including review of drawings, submittals, and RFIs; perform field inspections; and verify adherence to design intent and quality standards.
• Support project management activities, including schedule coordination, risk identification, and budget tracking.
• Interface with site safety, environmental, and operations personnel to ensure designs comply with regulatory, security, and safety requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and project closeout activities.

Salary Range USD $120,000.00 - USD $145,000.00 / Yr. The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
