Position Overview This Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) role supports registered nurses, physician assistants, and physicians by assisting with basic procedures in a busy emergency department setting. The EMT provides care across all age groups, including infants, children, and adults, ensuring compassionate and efficient patient support.
Key Responsibilities - Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to unit safety and infection control protocols.
- Assist healthcare professionals with simple procedures and patient care tasks.
- Provide or assist with splinting, casting, and immobilization of patient extremities.
- Help transport patients to and from the emergency department as needed.
- Perform daily equipment checks and maintain logs to comply with regulatory standards.
- Support inventory management, including stocking and ordering supplies and equipment (voluntary).
Qualifications - Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
- Computer literacy is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including light to heavy lifting and pushing of patients or equipment.
- Preferred: Minimum of 2 years experience working in an emergency department.
Education - High school diploma or GED required.
Certifications - Must hold a current EMT or Paramedic certificate.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider program required.
- NVCI certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- For employees with prior CNA certification, maintain a minimum of 10 related continuing education units annually as an alternative to CNA certification.
All candidates must successfully pass a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment. Compliance with regional COVID-19 vaccination mandates is required.
