Role: Patient Companion Volunteer

Are you compassionate, empathetic, and looking for a meaningful way to give back? As a Patient Companion Volunteer, you’ll provide invaluable emotional support and companionship to our patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or care settings. Your presence can bring comfort, joy, and a sense of connection during a challenging time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer friendly visits, conversation, and a listening ear to patients
• Engage in light activities such as reading aloud, playing games or cards, listening to music, sharing stories, or simply sitting together
• Provide respite for family caregivers, giving them a much-needed break
• Assist with non-medical tasks like light errands, letter writing, or enjoying hobbies together (no personal care or medication administration)
• Help create moments of peace and normalcy for patients and families

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Compassionate and reliable with strong listening skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Must be 18 years or older
• Pass a background check, TB test, and drug screening (provided at no cost)
• Complete our comprehensive volunteer training program (including orientation on hospice care, communication, and boundaries)
• Flexible commitment: As little as 1-2 hours per week, scheduled around your availability
