Basic Job Functions :

The Environmental Shift Technician will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state and Federal environmental regulations via daily mechanical maintenance of baghouses, water treatment systems, and associated equipment as well as other duties assigned. In addition, the position will focus on maintaining continuity between shifts in areas such as project management, coordination with contractors, attending down day / outage meetings, planning down day / outage jobs, parts ordering, warehouse inventory requests, maintaining critical spare part inventory, automation improvements, and PLC changes.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Experience in water systems operations, water chemistry analysis, baghouse / emissions control operations, mechanical and electrical maintenance (emphasis on pumps and valves).
• Safe work record and committed to working safe and taking care of the environment.
• Proven self-starter that has demonstrated high mechanical ability.

Preferred Qualifications :

1. Experience in water systems operations, water chemistry analysis, baghouse / emissions control operations, mechanical and electrical maintenance (emphasis on pumps and valves).

2. Experience in software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Ross, Computer Maintenance Management Systems.

3. Extensive knowledge of pollution control equipment, CEMS, Drinking / Waste Water Systems, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems HAZMAT, RCRA, DOT, and Method 9 smoke reading.

4. Knowledge and experience in electrical distribution and motor control systems.

5. AC motor and variable frequency drive experience.

6. Pipefitting, welding, and fabrication experience.
