Schedule : Full-Time, 40 hours M-F
Openings : Multiple
Pay Range :
- AMFT : Up to $49 / hr
- LMFT : Up to $60 / hr

About the Roles
A school district near Montebello CA, in partnership with Cross Country Education, is seeking dedicated and compassionate School-Based Mental Health Clinicians (AMFT / LMFT) to join our team. These positions are integral in supporting the emotional well-being, resilience, and academic success of our diverse K–12 student population.
Key Responsibilities
Universal & Preventive Supports
Promote positive school climates that enhance resilience, social-emotional learning, and pro-social behavior among students.Implement schoolwide mental health initiatives to prevent behavioral health issues and youth violence.Provide culturally competent and developmentally appropriate early interventions to address mental health concerns.Direct Student Support
Identify and support students experiencing emotional distress or mental health challenges.Conduct screenings and provide early intervention counseling, referrals, and follow-up care coordination.Guide students through self-regulation, coping, and social problem-solving strategies.Connect students and families to appropriate school-based and community-based resources, including crisis services and hotlines.Implement the district’s policies for suicide prevention and postvention supports.Collaboration & Program Development
Partner with school staff, administrators, and families to coordinate supports and align interventions.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies to expand available services.Deliver staff training on mental health awareness and trauma-informed practices.Contribute to data tracking and reporting to evaluate program effectiveness and compliance.School-Based Mental Health Coordinator (LMFT Level)
In addition to the above, the LMFT will serve in a Coordinator capacity , providing :
Program oversight, data management, and compliance monitoring.Leadership in developing and implementing comprehensive school-based mental health frameworks.Supervision and mentoring for AMFT staff (if applicable).Liaison duties with the Department of Health Care Services , ensuring policies, claims, and billing processes align with school-based requirements.Qualifications
For AMFT :
Active Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT) license in California.Experience working with K–12 youth in educational or clinical settings preferred.For LMFT :
Active Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) license in California.Experience with school-based mental health coordination , billing compliance, and inter-agency collaboration preferred.For Both :
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse school communities.Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis intervention skills.Commitment to equity, trauma-informed practice, and restorative approaches.Why Join Us
