Maintenance EngineerThe Mueller Company is headquartered in Atlanta, GA and manufactures valves for water and gas systems, including iron gate, butterfly, tapping, check, plug, and ball valves, as well as dry-barrel and wet-barrel fire hydrants; pipe repair products, such as clamps and couplings used to repair leaks, as well as municipal castings, including manhole covers and street drain grates; and residential and commercial water meter products and systems. It also offers metering, leak detection, pipe condition assessment, and other products and services for the water infrastructure industry, as well as provides installation, replacement, and maintenance services on new and existing valves, fire hydrants, and service lines.
Position Summary :
Develop, define and lead implementation through study, method changes, and process improvements of manufacturing methods and procedures to meet operational excellence goals and objectives. Additionally, this position will be responsible for leading and assisting in the development & management of the PM / PdM program, working closely with the Reliability Engineer.
Responsibilities :
Develop and manage equipment PM’s designed to address specific failure modes and reduce unplanned failures to Plant equipment through early defect identification.
Works closely with the Reliability Engineer on improvements to processes & equipment, to improve reliability & reduce downtime.
Works with the Reliability Engineer to coach, mentor, and train maintenance personnel in precision maintenance practices.
Works closely with Facilities Engineering to review new equipment specifications, installations, and planned maintenance.
Provide engineering services to prepare specific job plans with detailed procedures for completion of repair in the most effective and efficient manner.
Work with Production Engineering for “best practices” methods, for equipment layout and installation, for optimizing space and process flow.
Creates AutoCAD drawings and sketches as needed for parts and layouts.
Manage maintenance engineering projects from conception through execution & implementation.
Manage all 3rd party maintenance inspections and services, including, but not limited to :
Cranes, Hoists, Monorails and Runways
Air Receivers
Boiler
Chains, Slings, Com-a-longs and lifting devices
HVAC systems
Mobile Equipment
Infrared surveys
Shall be the primary contact for outside contractors for maintenance related work.
Serves as technical resource for troubleshooting and solving equipment and process issues.
Carries out special assignments as directed by manager.
Provides technical support to Maintenance Planners and Schedulers in developing effective work plans.
Coordinates semi-annual shutdown work lists, projects and plans.
Position Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
Experience in manufacturing environment involving high speed machining and foundry operations, prefer six to eight years.
Five to seven years foundry experience preferred.
Experience with capital projects scope development, justification and management.
Strong working knowledge and experience in reliability engineering practices.
CMRP certification preferred.
Outstanding PC / Systems knowledge and skills.
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC controls (Allen Bradley) preferred.
Knowledge of automation and robotic applications preferred.
Strong leadership, communications and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees, customers and outside professionals.
Knowledge dealing with complex manufacturing situations, hardware specifications, quality standards, product development, CAD / CAM and technical specifications.
Strong written & oral skills at all levels required.
