Valley Hope has an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales and marketing professional to join our team in this key position of Director of Business Development.
This position will support our Missouri market which is comprised of a residential treatment facility in Boonville and an outpatient treatment facility in Columbia. This position is hybrid, working in the Boonville office at least once a week.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Three (3) years of experience in sales, marketing, and/or public relations.
- Two (2) years of management or supervisory experience.
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- Five (5) years of leadership and/or managerial experience.
- License or credential to function as an alcohol and drug treatment counselor in the state in which the Counselor is working.
- Five (5) years of experience in sales, marketing, and/or public relations.

JOB SUMMARY:
- Responsible for managing strategic relationships of new and existing referral sources—including hospitals, physicians, substance use disorder specialists, community organizations, care managers, and legal/judicial professionals—to generate client referrals, promote awareness of treatment services, and strengthen the organization’s presence and reputation within the market.
- Works collectively with supervisor to implement strategic plans and goals for the department.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and code of ethical behavior that is consistent with the organization’s Mission statement and objectives.
- Analyzes facility performance indicators and utilizes sales forecasting and strategic planning to identify trends and opportunities in business development and market growth.
- Stays informed on healthcare industry trends, research, and best practices to enhance service offerings, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen market competitiveness while driving profitability.
- Supervises identified team members including hiring, training, and providing performance review. Provides routine performance feedback, ongoing leadership, and mentoring in support of staff development.
- Manages the activities of designated staff to achieve optimal census objectives and facilitate the growth of business with appropriate payer mix. As well as assisting in development of ways to improve the payer mix.
- Collaborates with facility leadership and corporate marketing teams on advertising, public relations, and business development initiatives, including the creation of promotional materials and management of the facility’s social media presence.
- Analyzes and manages the regional marketing database to ensure accurate reporting and effective execution of data-driven insights.
- Prepares and presents strategic insights, reports, and market analyses to the supervisor and other key stake holders at the facility and home office level, including updates on trends, referral sources, and business development activities.
- Collaborates with supervisor to plan and manage the marketing operations budget, demonstrating strong business acumen and fiscal responsibility.
- Conducts referral development, customer relations, and in-service training sessions to educate community on the facility operations and services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office setting, variable hours as delegated per Supervisor.
- Must be able to be on-call and work non-typical hours including evenings and/or weekends based on operational needs.
- Direct contact with patients, families, and referral sources via the telephone.
- Sitting for extended periods of time of up to 4 hours; regularly talking to and listening to others.
- Able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours).
- Able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time within the assigned area.
