Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to support and advance our IT infrastructure, with a primary focus on RHEL-based Linux systems and a strategic transition to Kubernetes-based containerization. This role supports a dynamic R&D lab environment that integrates closely with the broader enterprise. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and evolving both Linux and Kubernetes platforms, along with related infrastructure. You will also act as a technical advisor and liaison to lab leadership and project teams, helping bridge the gap between technical execution and strategic goals. Strong communication skills-both verbal and written-are essential for effectively engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or technical discipline is desired with eight (8) years of relevant experience
- Five (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
Required Skills :
Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments with at least a foundational understanding of KubernetesExtensive experience in installing, configuring, securing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large-scale physical and / or virtual Linux environmentsAdvanced troubleshooting skills across Linux, as well as networking and storage technologiesProficient with infrastructure automation tools such as Puppet or AnsibleExperience using version control systems, particularly Git and GitLabProficient in scripting with Bash and / or PythonStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environmentAbility to clearly communicate business and technical needs to both technical and non-technical audiencesExcellent oral communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of a contract or project teamStrong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and actionable documentation, including recommendations, technical assessments, and integration plansA self-starter with a proactive, strategic mindsetDemonstrates professionalism, patience, and diplomacy in interactions with colleagues, customers, and partnersDesired Skills
