credit specialist

Our client, a respected financial institution, is seeking a detail-oriented Credit Specialist to join their credit and lending operations team. This role is responsible for supporting the evaluation, documentation, and servicing of credit applications for both consumer and commercial portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and process credit applications for consumer, commercial, and / or real estate loans in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Analyze credit reports, financial statements, income documentation, and other borrower information to assess creditworthiness.
• Prepare credit summaries, risk analyses, and recommendations for underwriter or credit officer review.
• Verify data accuracy and ensure compliance with lending and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain and update loan files, ensuring completeness and adherence to quality standards.
• Support loan documentation and funding processes by coordinating with internal departments and external clients.
• Monitor existing loan portfolios for renewals, payment issues, and covenant compliance.
• Communicate with applicants, relationship managers, and underwriters to gather missing information and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with audit requests and ensure adherence to all internal controls and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., ECOA, Fair Lending, BSA / AML).
