Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Field Technician for our client in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Summary : -Assists with the planning, directs and coordinates activities pertaining to various tank / pressure vessels / piping inspection projects. Function as both an inspector / examiner under API / PaDEP and is responsible for all inspection and examination activity regarding pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping, heat exchangers, structures, and other plant related equipment.
The candidate will be responsible for : -Communicate all pertinent inspection & repair results to the operating area for review and recommendations.-Ensure that all such equipment complies with industry standards and requirements including PSM requirements, codes, laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the particular equipment.-Ensure that in-service or out-of-services inspections are performed consistent with recommended practices using the latest in approved techniques, technologies and procedures;-Keep up-to-date records on any inspection activity; and for issuing accurate, complete, and timely inspection reports to site production units.
Primary responsibilities include : -Assists project manager with conducting inspections, completing environmental and engineer reports, attaining all necessary permits and establishing budgets in accordance with project documents.-Coordinate the work group of staff inspectors, contract inspectors, sub-contractors and reliability engineers.-Create and manage nondestructive examination procedures and qualifications.-Oversee the execution of QA activities when requested, including inspections at fabrication shops where appropriate.-Work with owners and repair organizations to develop and execute repair plans for specific tank, vessels and pipe systems (write and / or review the developed repair plans per API 510, 570, 653 and follow to completion).-Participate in various events such as the determination of root cause failure analysis, reliability centered maintenance, and system preventative maintenance. Interprets design drawings, specifications, inspection reports and company policies to subordinates and / or contractors and assist in the enforcement of safety regulations. Analyzes and resolves work problems.-Communicate regularly with customer and project manager on all construction activity and revised scheduling as required.-Performs other related duties and assignments as required.-In addition, our primary work product may include the following : -Tank Inspections-Asset Evaluations (structural inspections)-Confined Space Inspections and Audits
Education / Experience Requirements-Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or three to five years of related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (this would be for the more experienced Inspector)Or-Associates degree from an accredited tech school or college, or one (1) to three (3) years of related experience and / or training or certifications.
Qualifications : -Extensive knowledge of established industry practices, procedures and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal regulations.-Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools and proficiency in skilled inspection tasks.-Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented.-Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, specifications and contracts.-Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization.-Individuals with the following certifications will be given priority consideration : -API 653 Certified Inspector (Desired)-PaDEP Certified Inspector (Desired)-API 510 Certified Inspector-API 570 Certified Inspector-ASNT TC-1A Level II, MT, PT, LT and VT Certifications-BSCE (Optional)-BSME (Optional)
