About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer specializing in HVAC engineering, design, and building automation systems. In this role, you will independently lead and support HVAC project planning, scoping, design engineering, and implementation across a diverse building portfolio.
The ideal candidate brings deep mechanical engineering expertise, strong project leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously—ranging from tens of thousands to up to $5M in capital scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts for HVAC design and system implementation.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison to troubleshoot and resolve engineering design challenges.
- Initiate and develop project scope, preliminary designs, engineering schedules, and cost estimates.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for HVAC engineering work.
- Oversee scoping meetings, chair design status updates, and ensure alignment with leadership.
- Monitor engineering costs and design schedule progress to ensure ontime, onbudget delivery.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on bid package development and contractor evaluations.
- Support Facilities Operations teams in troubleshooting existing HVAC and building automation systems.
- Update HVAC and Building Automation System (BAS) engineering standards.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering10+ years of relevant experience in HVAC engineering, design, or building systems project workPreferred Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), including design, engineering, and controls applicationsHandson experience with Niagara Tridium BASBackground using BIM tools, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and / or RevitPMP certification (PMI)Demonstrated proficiency with HVAC controls designAdditional Competencies
