Overview: A leading intellectual property law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Trademark Paralegal to support U.S. trademark prosecution and clearance operations. This role is central to the firm's trademark practice, with a strong focus on conducting knockout searches and preparing detailed search analysis reports. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with deep knowledge of U.S. trademark procedures, exceptional research skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:Trademark Search & Analysis - Conduct preliminary (knockout) trademark searches using USPTO, WIPO, and commercial databases.
- Analyze search results, identify potential conflicts, and prepare detailed search summary reports for attorney review.
Clearance & Prosecution Support - Assist attorneys with the full clearance process, including managing communications with third-party search vendors.
- Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications, draft and revise goods and services descriptions, and assist with specimen identification and responses to Office Actions.
Deadline & Docket Management - Monitor and track prosecution deadlines using docketing systems to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Proactively flag upcoming deadlines and coordinate with team members to ensure compliance.
Legal Research & Documentation - Conduct legal research on U.S. trademark rules, filing requirements, and industry practices.
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, reports, and client correspondence using Microsoft Office Suite.
Collaboration & Client Service - Work closely with attorneys and support staff to ensure seamless workflow and high-quality client service.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements:Required: - 5+ years of trademark paralegal experience, with a strong focus on search and U.S. prosecution.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. trademark rules, procedures, and electronic filing systems.
- Proficient in conducting and interpreting trademark searches using USPTO, WIPO, and commercial search platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong judgment, accountability, and discretion in handling sensitive legal matters.
- Willingness to adjust work hours as needed to meet business needs.
Preferred: - Experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Bachelor's degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Familiarity with coordinating third-party search vendors and clearance processes.
