The Oregonian / OregonLive seeks a student or recent graduate for a 10-week fall reporting internship. This intern will work alongside, and learn from, the newsroom’s dynamic and experienced public safety team on breaking news. A successful candidate will have prior experience in student media or professional newsroom internships and an interest in developing their ability to work quickly to break news and cultivate deep sourcing to add context to public safety stories.
We’re committed to providing a learning environment for emerging journalists. Each intern is paired with an experienced mentor and has access to newsroom training and resources to expand their skills. Interns are paid competitively, and we may be able to provide housing or relocation stipends for those who demonstrate need.
The internship is expected to begin in September and conclude in November, but start and end dates are flexible.

We are a remote-first newsroom, but the fall public safety intern will be required to travel to events and breaking news scenes in the region in the course of their work. Company vehicles are available for work-related travel.
