Bay Area | Hybrid | Full-time | $160,000–$200,000 DOE
An established architecture and design firm is seeking a Controller or Director of Finance to lead financial operations and partner closely with firm leadership on strategic planning. This role combines hands-on accounting leadership with forward-looking financial strategy and may be hired at either level depending on experience.

What you’ll do
Oversee GL, AP / AR, payroll, reconciliations, and month- and year-end closePrepare financial statements, dashboards, and variance analyses for leadershipLead budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planningManage project-based accounting including WIP, utilization, and profitability trackingCoordinate with external CPAs on audits, tax filings, and complianceSupervise and mentor a small accounting team; streamline workflows and ERP useWhat you bring
7–10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including 3+ in leadershipStrong understanding of project-based accounting gained within an architecture or engineering (A / E) environmentProficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint, QuickBooks, or comparable ERP systemsAdvanced Excel and financial modeling skillsCPA, CMA, or MBA preferredHybrid role based in the Bay Area (2–3 days per week on-site).
