As an Observability Pipeline Engineer, you will support and maintain our enterprise monitoring and telemetry platforms, including the Confluent Enterprise Platform (Kafka), ITRS Geneos, and the OpenTelemetry telemetry pipeline. Your responsibilities will encompass :
- Supporting and troubleshooting Kafka producers and consumers
- Administering ITRS agents
- Managing the OTEL pipeline and resolving issues
- Identifying opportunities for improvement
- Creating reference and run-book documentation
- Developing observability dashboards and configuring monitoring and alerting as necessary
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing changes
In this position, you will monitor the health of these environments and swiftly address issues. You'll onboard new producer and consumer use cases, perform software upgrades, and contribute to continuous process improvement. Proficiency in monitoring tools and Linux administration is essential, along with experience in Kafka administration and agent management. Familiarity with Splunk, Grafana, and Datadog will be advantageous.

Onboarding new Kafka producer and consumer use casesEngineering and supporting the enterprise telemetry pipelineTesting and deploying software upgradesManaging and supporting telemetry agentsSupporting OpenTelemetry collectorsTroubleshooting and resolving issuesWhat you possess :
Thorough knowledge of the Confluent Enterprise Platform components : Brokers, Topics, Partitions, Producers, Consumers, Zookeeper, and KRaftExperience setting up and configuring on-prem Kafka components, including replication factors and partitioningExperience with logging platformsUnderstanding of telemetry monitoring concepts, including ITRS Geneos, OpenTelemetry agents, Grafana, and DatadogFamiliarity with security protocols : SSL / TLS, SASL, LDAP, etc.Experience in monitoring telemetry (alerts, events, logs, metrics, and traces)Experience working in Linux / Unix, Windows, and virtualized environmentsUnderstanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, and PCF)Familiarity with DNS, load balancing, and firewallsAptitude for analyzing logs to diagnose issuesExperience with other monitoring or analytics tools such as Splunk or PrometheusDesired : Scripting experience with Python, Bash, Powershell, or similarDesired : Knowledge or experience with high-level languages such as Java or GoAlongside a competitive salary, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
