Parts Specialist
Location : Fremont, CT – Roofing Manufacturing Facility
Pay Rate : $30.00 / hr
Type : W-2 Hourly
Schedule : Monday–Friday, 6 : 00 AM – 2 : 00 PM (8.5-hour day including 30-minute unpaid lunch); weekend overtime as required
Position Overview
The Parts Specialist is responsible for managing, tracking, and issuing maintenance and production parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate inventory control through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS / SAP), supports maintenance and repair activities, and collaborates closely with maintenance, production, and procurement teams to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Receive and enter incoming parts / materials into CMMS (SAP or equivalent).
Issue parts to maintenance personnel and work orders for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
Maintain clean, organized, and compliant parts storage and inventory areas.
Perform inventory cycle counts, monitor stock levels, and generate MRP (Material Requirements Planning) reports.
Track usage trends, obsolete materials, and coordinate returns or disposal according to company procedures.
Collaborate with maintenance, production, and purchasing to ensure availability of critical spare parts.
Generate inventory reports, adjustments, and usage analytics through SAP.
Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies and fulfill special part requests.
Participate in audits, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts related to materials management.
Report Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) incidents, including near misses and property damage.
Support plant sustainability and waste management efforts.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; associate degree or related coursework preferred.
3–5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing or maintenance environment (roofing, construction materials, or related industries preferred).
Strong knowledge of maintenance tools, mechanical / electrical parts, plant equipment components.
Experience using SAP or CMMS systems; proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hoists.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs using proper techniques.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stair climbing.
Manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, temperature variations, and moving equipment.
PPE compliance and adherence to all safety protocols is mandatory.
