The Software Engineer IIIs role is to define develop test analyze and maintain software applications in support of the achievement of Patterson software requirements. This includes writing coding testing and analyzing software programs and applications. The Software Engineer III will also lead the research design documentation and modification of software specifications throughout the development life cycle.

Software Development

Collaborate with clients developers and other team members in the conceptualization and development of new or existing software applications.

Define develop and document software business requirements objectives deliverables and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.

Research identify analyze and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users and stakeholders.

Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and / or performance of company applications as needed.

Execute software testing on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors and general debugging.

Agile Team Work

Participate in and may lead the definition of software development project plans including scoping scheduling and implementation.

Perform and may lead program turnover to production support and customers upon completion of development testing and documentation.

Help mentor Software Engineer peers through technical advice and reference.

Technologies

We develop our software using Microsoft technologies. A well-developed knowledge of the Microsoft technology stack is required.

C# : Core language for building applications in the Microsoft stack especially .

NET Framework / .NET Core / .NET (latest versions) : Understanding the evolution and current state for building scalable applications.

Entity Framework : For object-relational mapping (ORM) and database interactions.

Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) : For desktop application development.

Universal Windows Platform (UWP) : For cross-device Windows apps.

RESTful API Development : Building and consuming APIs with Core.

Authentication / Authorization : Implementing security with OAuth OpenID Connect or Azure Active Directory.

Microsoft SQL Server : In-depth understanding of relational database design T-SQL and optimization.

Data Modeling : Designing efficient schemas and relationships.

Microsoft Azure : Proficiency with Azure services like App Services Functions Blob Storage and Virtual Machines.

Azure DevOps : Knowledge of CI / CD pipelines repositories and deployment workflows.

Visual Studio : Mastery of Microsofts flagship IDE for coding debugging and testing.

Git : Version control including GitHub or Azure Repos integration.

Agile / Scrum : Familiarity with iterative development methodologies.

Unit Testing : Writing tests with frameworks like MSTest NUnit or xUnit.

Design Patterns : Understanding MVC MVVM Singleton Repository and Dependency Injection patterns.

SOLID Principles : For writing maintainable and scalable code.

Legacy Systems : Understanding older Microsoft tech like or classic ASP (for maintenance roles).

Power Platform : Knowledge of Power Apps Power Automate or Power BI for low-code solutions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Management Information Sciences Mathematics Engineering Business or area of functional responsibility preferred or a combination of equivalent education and experience

At least 5 years of programming experience required. Should have prior experience within various platforms and languages

Knowledge of all aspects of application development and project life cycles including Agile applications

Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices

Fluency in object oriented programming and design

Extensive database and operating systems experience

Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products

Ability to develop and maintain software products written in different languages and platforms

Familiarity with corporate governance business cases and return on investment concepts.

Understanding of best practices for building applications with peak performance and reliability - Familiarity with Agile processes and scrum

Extensive experience in C# - Experience framework

Experience using front-end web technologies Angular is preferred

Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps is a plus

Experience building scalable applications using fundamental design principles

Must be willing to take a programming test.

The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount could exceed this range based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market) experience and skills.
