Strong understanding of effective art instruction methods, curriculum development, and classroom management. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to effectively engage diverse learners through differentiated instruction. Capacity to actively perform classroom duties, including standing, movement, and participation in student projects. Sufficient visual and auditory skills for teaching and supervising students. Manual dexterity for using art materials, tools, and instructional technology. Bachelor's degree required. Appropriate California Teaching Credential preferred or eligibility and willingness to obtain one. Salary range : $55,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Health benefits provided through Kaiser for employee and dependents. Participation in California State Teachers Retirement System or Public Employees Retirement System.

Job Summary : Credo High School, a public Waldorf high school, seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Art Teacher passionate about fostering creativity, sustainability, and excellence in education. Credo emphasizes sustainability and holistic education, preparing students rigorously for higher education and life beyond. Located within SOMO Village, a model sustainable community, Credo provides students a unique learning experience shaped by Waldorf principles and the One Planet sustainability framework.
Responsibilities :
- Plan, deliver, and assess a comprehensive art curriculum aligned with Waldorf education principles and Credo's sustainability mission.
- Foster an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that nurtures students’ artistic development, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Support students' holistic growth, balancing artistic, academic, emotional, and social development.
- Collaborate with faculty, parents, and community members to enrich student learning and community involvement.
- Develop and execute robust lesson plans, clearly communicating objectives and outcomes to students.
- Evaluate student performance consistently, providing constructive feedback and adapting instruction accordingly.
- Actively participate in school-wide sustainability initiatives and project-based learning experiences.
- Maintain accurate student records and adhere to school and district policies.
