Company Overview At The Intersect Group, we partner with innovative enterprises that depend on resilient, scalable, and secure networks to power their business. Our clients operate in complex, fast?moving environments where connectivity, cloud adoption, and automation are central to growth. They value integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement—creating a culture where engineers can solve meaningful problems and see the impact of their work. This opportunity lets you influence strategic architecture while advancing best?in?class operational practices.
Role Summary We’re seeking a seasoned
Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise network platforms with a primary focus on data center networking and a secondary focus on remote offices, cloud connectivity, SD?WAN, security, and network automation. This role is critical to delivering robust, scalable, and secure services that keep business applications available and performant.
You will architect and support Layer 2/Layer 3 environments; integrate cloud connectivity (including Cloud OnRamp patterns) to Azure and AWS; strengthen edge and security controls; and drive automation for repeatable, high?quality operations. You’ll collaborate closely with Network Services, Architecture, Infrastructure PMs, and Information Security to ensure solutions align to standards and are delivered predictably in a plan/build/operate model.
Key Responsibilities - Design & Implementation: Engineer data center and distributed (SD?WAN) networks, including L2/L3, secure site?to?site connectivity, and cloud on?ramps to Azure/AWS.
- Operations & Reliability: Monitor performance, troubleshoot complex incidents, and execute lifecycle activities (config, firmware, and software upgrades) to maximize availability.
- Security Integration: Deploy and support next?gen firewalls, SASE, and NAC solutions; harden edge, campus, and cloud access in partnership with InfoSec.
- Automation & Tooling: Build and maintain network automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python, APIs) to streamline provisioning, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Standards & Documentation: Create and maintain network standards, diagrams, runbooks, and automation artifacts; reduce technical debt via standardization and modernization.
- Cloud & SD?WAN: Implement and optimize SD?WAN architectures and cloud connectivity patterns for resilient, high?performance access to SaaS and IaaS workloads.
- Observability: Leverage enterprise monitoring and telemetry (e.g., NetFlow, IP SLA, packet capture) and platforms like SolarWinds to drive proactive insights.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with architecture, apps, and support teams; mentor junior engineers and communicate complex concepts to technical and non?technical stakeholders.
Key Requirements - 8+ years of hands?on network engineering experience with a strong concentration in enterprise data center and distributed/SD?WAN environments.
- Advanced expertise in routing and switching (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), spine/leaf or SDN architectures (e.g., Cisco ACI, VXLAN/EVPN), and Cisco data center platforms (Nexus, ASR/ISR).
- Proven experience implementing cloud connectivity (Azure/AWS), including Cloud OnRamp patterns and hybrid routing designs (VPC/VNet, transit, gateways).
- Depth in network security platforms such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiClient, FortiSASE), Zscaler, and legacy/support for Cisco ASA; familiarity with ISE or other NAC solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to automate networks using Ansible, Terraform, Python, CI/CD, and API?driven workflows.
- Proficiency with observability and analysis: SolarWinds (Orion), packet capture tools, NetFlow, IP SLA; experience with QoS, multicast, and traffic engineering strategies.
- Professional?level certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCDP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE 4–7) or equivalent experience; DevNet or similar automation credentials a plus.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross?team collaboration skills; able to lead initiatives, mentor others, and perform in a fast?paced on?call environment.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with SD?WAN deployments and modernization programs across multi?site enterprises.
- Knowledge of load balancers, WAN optimization, Meraki, and Wireless LAN Controllers; exposure to CUCM is helpful.
- Background designing and executing greenfield builds and migration efforts (e.g., VXLAN/OTV) and developing resilient, repeatable automation patterns.
