Transportation Construction Inspector - Reading / Berks County

JMT's Allentown, PA Construction Management Team is seeking qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspectors for highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects within the PennDOT District 5-0 (Reading, PA / Berks County) region. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of our clients (primarily PennDOT) for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT / OPT / STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and / or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
• Makes field notes and computations
• Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials
• Gathers and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)

Working Conditions :

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat / cold, wet / humid, and dry / arid conditions.
