Lead Fleet Technician
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Lead Fleet Technician , you will oversee, coordinate, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fleet vehicles, including truck tractors, trucks, refrigerated trailers, and other fleet equipment. In addition to advanced technical ability, this role requires strong leadership, mentoring, and decision-making skills to support shop operations and ensure high-quality repairs. You will serve as a technical expert, assist with workflow management, and help guide other technicians.

Monday–Friday
Day Shift : 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily shop operations by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion of work.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to Fleet Technicians.
- Perform advanced preventive maintenance (PMs) and complex diagnostics on all fleet vehicles.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty truck tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and related equipment.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble major components, including diesel engines, transmissions, axles, and electrical systems.
- Support mobile fleet repairs on company property or during emergency roadside calls as needed.
- Conduct quality-control checks on completed repairs to ensure accuracy, safety, and company standards.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Assist with inventory management, including parts procurement needs.
- Ensure the shop remains clean, safe, and compliant with OSHA, EPA, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and internal customers regarding repair status and equipment needs.
- Operate tractor-trailers and trucks for test drives and vehicle transfers.
- Properly use and maintain company tools and equipment, and report any issues promptly.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Provide all required hand tools and lockable toolboxes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Licensure
High school diploma or GED required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum of 2–4 years of related heavy-duty fleet mechanic experience ; previous leadership or mentorship experience preferred.Class A CDL preferred; must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.Must meet DOT medical requirements.Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations.Ability to read and interpret technical service manuals and wiring diagrams.Proficiency with diagnostic software and modern heavy-duty equipment technologies.Strong communication and leadership skills.Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing workload demands.Ability to work a flexible schedule when required, including occasional nights or weekends.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Frequent handling of heavy parts requiring precise hand / finger dexterity.Adequate vision with normal color vision for electrical diagnostics.Ability to detect mechanical sounds and abnormalities.Ability to bend, reach, twist, and work in confined spaces.Ability to lift 25–50 lbs. frequently.Clear verbal communication skills for interacting with internal customers and team members.Strong troubleshooting, reasoning, and attention to detail.Strict adherence to safety protocols.Solid mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy-duty systems.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting in varying temperatures within a loud shop environment.
