Description :

The unit has 42 beds.

The unit is staffed by 40 core staff members.

The day shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, 3-4 CNAs, and 1-3 sitters.

The night shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, 3-4 CNAs, and 1-3 sitters.

The patient ratio is 6 : 1.

The equipment used includes glucometers, vital machines, hoyer lifts, wound vacs, chest tubes, baxter pumps, epidural PCAs, telemetry monitors, kangaroo pumps, BiPap devices, peg tubes, and blood warmers.

The electronic medical record system is Meditech.

The most recruited skill set includes :

A positive attitude.

Preferred skills include 2 years of Med / Surg experience and ACLS certification.

Typical procedures performed on the unit include :

Assisting with PICC line placement.

Chest tube management.

Wound care.

Tube feedings.

Initiating IV access.

Infusing blood products, TPN, and Heparin.

The best personality fit is outgoing, works well with the team, and gives 110%.

The unit requires working 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week period.

There is no on-call requirement.
