DescriptionThe CDI department's primary mission is to educate clinical staff on the documentation requirements necessary to accurately classify patients utilizing International Classification of Disease 10th edition (ICD-10). The CDI manager is responsible for planning, development and implementation of educational programs for the clinical staff regarding documentation. The CDI manager services as a subject matter expert for Temple Health for ICD-10 & documentation requirements and a resource to the Clinical Documentation Specialists on all aspects of medical record documentation required to support the accurate classification of patient's severity of illness/medical complexity. Possess extensive knowledge of both clinical medicine and disease management, as well as the internal and external patient classification systems that measure patient's severity of illness and medical complexity. Acts as a liaison for clarifying documentation regarding quality-of-care issues with all responsible departments. Communicates with the clinical staff through a variety of means to educate the staff and obtain clarification of documentation. Oversees quality reviews and reports outcome to CDI Director & VP for HIM services. The CDI manger assist with the development of education programs for the CDIS staff.
