Position Summary
The L&D RN will provide comprehensive care to laboring and postpartum patients, delivering expert support in labor, delivery, and recovery. This role focuses exclusively on L&D - no OB triage responsibilities - while collaborating with a full team including OB Techs, neonatologists, and anesthesiology staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 care for laboring patients, C-sections, and postpartum recovery.
- Manage antepartum and intrapartum patient care, including high-risk patients (e.g., preeclampsia, gestational diabetes).
- Catch babies and provide immediate newborn stabilization and recovery care.
- Assist with scheduled and unscheduled C-sections, cerclage placements, tubal ligations, and D&Cs as needed.
- Conduct vaginal exams and support laboring mothers.
- Manage non-obstetric co-morbidities : hypertension, diabetes, etc.
- Collaborate with OB Techs, CNAs, resource nurses, OB hospitalists, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and neonatologists.
- Utilize EPIC for charting, Pyxis and Alaris for medication administration, and Client fetal monitors for continuous patient assessment.
- Float to postpartum, NICU (hold & feed), or MSU floors as needed without carrying a primary assignment outside L&D.
