Health and Safety Specialist

Job Summary

IFF is looking for a EH&S to join our team at the IFF Carrollton site.

This IFF location manufactures flavor ingredients that can be found in consumer products that people across the U.S. and around the world use every day.

In this role you will share responsibly for the overall implementation of site systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate E,H&S standards with the E,H&S Manager on the second production shift. The E,H&S Specialist works closely with all facility personnel to ensure full compliance with OSHA General Industry standards, ISO 14001 standards, and all local and national regulations. This position reports to the Site E,H&S Manager and works closely with Operations leadership

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following :

• Implement and enforce site's E,H&S policies that define requirements to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and Corporate E,H&S standards.
• Develop and implement improvements to safety systems to ensure compliance with requirements and continued improvement in E, H&S performance. Execute E,H&S projects as assigned.
• Organize, lead, and participate in activities that promote employee ownership and engagement in E,H&S.
• Support site incident investigation system, ensuring proper classification, thorough root cause investigations and appropriate corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
• Provide in-plant support to site leadership, operators, mechanics, contractors, and technical staff to ensure proper safety evaluations are performed and work is completed within requirements.
• Complete routine field line walks (observe and engage) to provide recognition, coaching, collaboration, and training.
• Gather data and maintain systems to track necessary information for internal health and safety reporting and to drive improvement in E, H&S performance.
• Develop and improve safety training, including online computer courses, to educate site personnel on E,H&S-related issues. Ensure E,H&S training is effective in sharing safety know-how needed to achieve world class safe operations.
• Provide training and support as needed to all departments based on the annual E,H&S training program to implement the applicable IFF global regulatory policies.
• Implement and support case management, working closely with site leadership and the site's medical case manager to manage injuries / illnesses effectively. Ensure proper injury / illness classifications and OSHA recordkeeping are completed.
• Coordinate annual medical exams, and related Occupational Health assessments.
• Ensure that clear and effective emergency plans are in place in such a way that risks for people and IFF are minimized. Update and maintain site's Emergency Response Plan.
• Help support Carrollton's response teams, which include Confined Space, First Aid, and Fire Response.
• Assist in managing Contractors on site, including induction sessions and on-job evaluation
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
