Overview
The Testing Center Proctor will be working at the Utah State University Uintah Basin campus in Roosevelt, UT. Hours are varied depending on need and will be scheduled anywhere between 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday, and other times as assigned. Hours will be 20-25 hours per week and will change each semester. Enrolled USU students are not eligible to work as a testing center proctor. Currently, we are hiring for the afternoon shift, Monday-Friday, 12:30-5 PM.
Responsibilities
The testing center proctor serves a variety of functions. Duties include:
- Understand and follow all proctoring policies and procedures, especially as directed by the UB Testing Center Coordinator, instructors, USU Testing Website instructions, and any non-USU testing entities.
- Ensure integrity of all testing in classrooms and testing centers.
- Maintain accurate testing and equipment logs.
- Assist students, staff and faculty by operating classroom equipment that is essential to the delivery of connect classes.
- Provide assistance in the Classroom Services office, when necessary.
- Field any testing procedure questions from students, instructors, staff and public.
- Communicate and work with other statewide test proctors via SLACK and email.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Position requires knowledge of computers, use of email, and willingness to learn simple technology skills.
- Dependability, punctuality, and integrity are vital.
- Employees must be professional, punctual, and dependable; must have reliable access to transportation (to and from work sites) and Internet (for email).
- Employees must maintain confidentiality of student information and be able to communicate effectively.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have previous college education and understand the relationship between students and instructors.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions or work assignments.
- Cultural sensitivity and an ability to build rapport with a diverse workforce in multicultural settings.
- Self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn new skills or techniques.

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. Must be able to focus on computer screen and/or watching testers during entire shift.
