Our project types include providing decision support through insights and analytics for new product planning, launch strategy, portfolio / disease area strategy, and organizational strategy / change management. Most of our work is in specialty therapeutics, with oncology and rare diseases a specific area of expertise.
Blue Matter Insights (BMI) is our specialized insights CoE, uniquely combining sophisticated quantitative analytics with strategic pharmaceutical consulting. BMI consultants work side-by-side with strategy team members on high-stakes client engagements. You'll gain exposure to diverse therapeutic areas and challenging problems (launch forecasting, portfolio optimization, omnichannel strategy) while building expertise across proprietary technology platforms and advanced analytical methods. As an Associate Consultant / Consultant, you will work across Blue Matter as a functional expert, playing a key role in identifying analytical solutions to complex client needs.
Primary Responsibilities :
Client Delivery & Analytics Execution
- Design and execute sophisticated analyses leveraging primary research, secondary data sources, and commercial datasets to address strategic client questions
- Develop and apply statistical models and analytical techniques (e.g., segmentation, forecasting, regression analysis, market modeling) to inform commercial decision-making
- Build analytical tools, dashboards, and frameworks that enable clients to make data-driven decisions
- Structure and synthesize complex datasets to uncover actionable insights and strategic recommendations
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiencesDevelop high-quality client deliverables including presentations, reports, and executive summariesPresent analyses and recommendations to client teams, articulating the strategic implications for their businessCollaborate with project teams to ensure analytical work aligns with overall project objectives and timelinesProblem-Solving & Quality
Apply structured problem-solving approaches to break down ambiguous business challenges into executable analytical plansIdentify key insights, opportunities, and risks that inform corporate and commercial strategiesEnsure analytical rigor and quality control throughout project lifecycleProactively identify opportunities to enhance analytical approaches and methodologiesTeam Collaboration & Development
Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams spanning market research, strategy consulting, and technologyMentor junior team members on analytical techniques and project executionContribute to Blue Matter's analytical capabilities through knowledge sharing and best practice developmentDesired Experience and Skills :
Technical & Analytical
Proficiency with analytical tools including Python, R, SQL, SAS, or similar statistical softwareAdvanced Excel skills including complex modeling, data manipulation, and automation (VBA a plus)Experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)Strong quantitative and statistical reasoning skills with ability to select appropriate methodologiesExperience working with pharmaceutical commercial data (e.g., prescription data, claims data, market research datasets)Business & Domain Knowledge
Understanding of pharmaceutical and biotechnology commercial operations including sales force design, market access, pricing strategy, and launch planningFamiliarity with therapeutic area dynamics, competitive landscapes, and healthcare ecosystemAbility to translate business problems into analytical frameworks and vice versaCommunication & Interpersonal
Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate analytical findings to non-technical audiences in clear, concise languageStrong PowerPoint skills with ability to develop executive-ready presentationsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team environments and contribute to positive team cultureClient-facing experience or ability to interact professionally with senior stakeholdersWork Management

BS degree in life sciences, statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics, or related quantitative field (MS / PhD preferred)2-4 years of experience in quantitative analytics, preferably within life sciences consulting, pharmaceutical industry, or healthcare analyticsCompensation : Base salary range : $110,000 - $140,000 per year. Generous incentive compensation structure.
