Job Description / n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg unit day shift position requiring an active compact RN license and recent Epic experience.

/ n / n Responsibilities / n

Work in a 45-bed Med / Surg unit of a hospital setting

Patient population includes post-surgical, orthopedic, respiratory, and medical cases such as gallbladder, colectomy, knee / hip replacements, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, and Covid

Day shifts are 12 hours long, 6 : 30 am to 7 pm

Every third weekend and every other holiday required

First to float within skillset to other units and campuses up to 11 miles away, with at least 2 hours' notice for cross-campus float

Navy blue scrubs required with no logos from competing health systems or agencies

Uses Epic EMR; recent Epic experience required

May be asked to precept students and new-hires as part of a teaching hospital team

Experienced and supportive unit staff

COVID-19 vaccine is not required but is subject to change

No local candidates considered; must live at least 40 miles from facility

Three unscheduled absences may result in termination

Active KY or compact RN license

AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum two years of strong Med / Surg experience plus at least one travel assignment completed

Recent Epic charting experience required

Strong skills in PIV insertion, chest tube and drain management, CBI, drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG / NG tube care, ostomy care, remote telemetry, blood product administration, NIHSS / dysphagia screening

Must demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking skills
