The Position

TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS AVAILABLE!

  • Must be available to work 6 hours per day Monday through Friday from February through April 2026.
  • Tentative work hours : 8 : 00AM - 2 : 30PM (including : 30 lunch)
  • Once hired applicants will be eligible for other assignments throughout the year.

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Language Assessment Center Coordinator perform a variety of English and target language testing as required by State law and District regulations; enter and aggregate computerized data in assigned student data base; administer a variety of oral and written student placement assessments.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of experience education and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical combination would be the following :

EDUCATION :

  • Required : Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • Preferred : Two years of experience as a bilingual classroom aide including experience working with computers.
  • LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

  • License / Insurance Certification :
  • Possession of a valid appropriate California drivers license at time of appointment and throughout employment in a position in this classification.
  • Proof of current California auto liability insurance at time of appointment and throughout employment in a position in this classification.

  • Personal transportation for job-related travel throughout the District.
  • KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    KNOWLEDGE OF :

    Operation of a computer student information system and assigned software.

    Available primary language tests.

    Modern office practices procedures and equipment.

    Data entry techniques.

    Principles and practices of record retrieval and record-keeping.

    Principles and procedures related to data aggregation.

    Graphing and statistical reporting formats.

    Knowledge Of Cont. :

    Correct oral and written usage of English and a designated second language.

    Basic math.

    Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.

    Applicable laws codes rules and regulations related to assigned activities.

    ABILITY TO :

    Operate a computer student information system and assigned software.

    Read write translate and interpret English and a designated second language.

    Assess students basic oral communication skills and cognitive academic linguistic proficiencies in reading language science and math in English and the target primary language.

    Access a variety of reports and print out student information from the student information system.

    Maintain an accurate complex and comprehensive data base for several sites.

    Manipulate data in a variety of ways to produce statistical reports.

    Understand the socio-cultural aspects of a language and establish a comparable and appropriate test climate.

    Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

    Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

    Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

    Meet schedules and time lines.

    Maintain records and files.

    Operate a variety of office equipment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Employees in this classification stand walk sit stoop bend use fingers repetitively use wrists or hands repetitively in a twisting motion or while applying pressure use both hands simultaneously; have rapid mental / muscular coordination speak clearly hear normal voice conversation can distinguish shades and have color vision; use a computer and a telephone; drive a vehicle.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Employees in this classification work inside exclusively in confined spaces with exposure to minor contagious illnesses (colds flu etc.) exposure to severe contagious illnesses or disease (tuberculosis measles mumps chicken pox hepatitis etc.) in direct contact with the public students and District staff and with a high volume of work and tight deadlines.

    GENERAL ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    LANGUAGE TESTING :

    Administer a variety of oral and written student placement assessments including English and primary language and special education academic tests; evaluate test results and recommend grade and class schedule placement; interview students and parents in their primary language to obtain educational background information to assist in determining appropriate educational placement; inform students and parents who have a primary language other than English of English Learner (EL) program general school and District information and availability of local community services; communicate with administrators staff students and parents to coordinate activities and exchange information; prepare and package testing materials; maintain student folders; complete and file required forms and documentation.

    ELECTRONIC DATA MAINTENANCE :

    Enter and aggregate test results and data in assigned student data base; summarize data for statistical placement reports for distribution to State District and school administration; read and interpret data printouts from student information system; operate a computer and various office equipment including but not limited to PCs scanners fax machine calculator and copier; perform related duties as assigned.

    Recruitment Information

    RECRUITMENT TYPE : OPEN - Anyone may apply

    CERTIFICATION TYPE : Substitute List - Qualified candidates or Eligibles who pass all testing stages will be placed on one eligibility list. Eligibles will be contacted in rank order to be processed as a substitute employee by Human Resources.

    APPLICATION PROCESS

    SCREENING PROCESS

    The screening process for this position which may be subject to modification will include some form of a(n) : application screening initial qualifications screening documentation / certification screening and supplemental application screening. The stated qualifications for the position represent only the minimum requirements and do not guarantee qualification for examination or placement on an eligibility list.

    EXAMINATION PROCESS

    The examination may consist of any combination of a(n) : training and experience (T&E) evaluation written knowledge test hands on / performance test structured panel interview situational judgement interview or other type of exam of fitness for duty. All parts of the examination process are job related. A passing score must be attained on each portion of the exam to advance to the next stage and ultimate placement on an eligibility list.

    DISABILITY ACCOMMODATION

    Requests for reasonable accommodations for the testing process must be made no less than two (2) days prior to the examination. Requests must be signed by your medical doctor school psychologist or learning consultant as appropriate and must be on provider letterhead and contain an actual signature.

    EXAM PROTESTS

    Protest of any part of the exam process must be in writing and submitted to the Personnel Director no later than five (5) working days from the date you participated in the exam. Any protest must include rationale to support the protest and shall include supporting documentation or references. Protests must be based on illegal discrimination abuse of discretion or procedure / process error. Protests should NOT be based on receiving unexpected results. We cannot be responsible for lost mail misdirected mail or failure of mail to be delivered after it has been entrusted to the U.S. Postal Service.

    ESTABLISHMENT OF ELIGIBILITY

    Candidates who are successful in all screening and testing stages will be placed on an eligibility list. The eligibility list created from this recruitment will expire after six (6) months. Candidates on the expired eligibility list are no longer considered for positions within the class. Eligibility lists may be extended beyond one year or expire sooner than one year. Eligibility lists may be merged in which case candidate ranks may change.

    SELECTION PROCESS

    Candidates on the eligibility list will be called in rank order to participate in final selection interviews with the hiring manager until three ranks of candidates have accepted the invitation to interview. Ranks may include ties so more than three candidates may be called to interview for one vacancy. Please note that candidates will be removed from the eligibility list for declining the invitation to interview more than three (3) times.

    OFFERS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Official offers of employment are ONLY made by the Anaheim Union High School District Human Resources Classified Office. Offers are subject to satisfactory completion of ALL the pre-employment processing including : successful completion of a physical examination tuberculosis examination fingerprint clearance by the California Department of Justice and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

    ADVANCED STEP PLACEMENT

    All new regular classified employees shall be paid in accordance with the salary range established for the class to which assigned. Initial placement will normally be the first step of the salary range. However a new employee may receive advanced step placement with an approval from Human Resources. Requests for advanced step must be submitted in writing to the Human Resources office before the employees first day of work. Approval will be based on the following criteria :

    A) Additional qualifying experience beyond that required for entry into the class.

    B) Additional education at the college level when related to the position beyond the established educational requirements for entry into the class.

    C) Evidence of currently receiving a salary greater than the first step of the salary for the classification.
