Lead Materials Developer
Location : Beaverton, OR
Contract length : ~6 months
Schedule : Hybrid in Beaverton, OR (onsite Monday-Thursday, WFH Friday)
Pay : $35-$37.33 / hr, DOE
The Planet Group is looking for a Lead Materials Developer to join our well-known retail brand on a roughly 6-month contract! This role is 40 hours per week and will be hybrid in Beaverton, OR, working onsite Monday-Thursday and working from home on Friday.
Lead Materials Developer Qualifications :
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in a materials development role
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Science / Design, or related field
- Experience with the following tools : PCX, Miro, Smartsheets, PPS
- Team player attitude and strength in building positive working relationships
- Textile development background (experience creating fabrics used for outerwear, bodywear, etc.)
- Trim experience - less important than the textile development background, but still required (developing zippers, elastics, patches, etc.)
- Connection to trend and consumer insights. Ability to be creative and technical
- Understanding of design and development process from inception through final adoption
- Proactive problem solving and information seeking-skills
- Ability to build a strategic plan / roadmap around key projects and execute to completion
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to move with agility through ambiguity
- Exceptional communication skills, including strong presentation skills
- Experience communicating and collaborating with global partners
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group
- Computer skills, including Microsoft office applications and Product Data Management. Smartsheet and Tableau a plus
- Strong development background in textiles, trims and prints as well as an understanding of apparel product creation will ensure delivery of great product for our athletes

Partner with Design and Product Management to define, create, and deliver textiles palettes with a focus on aesthetics, performance and qualityProvide a pulse on industry direction and bring new innovations to lifeReport into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM) and support partners within the brand including key collaborations with Innovation, Design, Product Merchandising, Technical Development, Sustainability, Sourcing and ManufacturingWork effectively within the materials team to ensure a thoughtful approach to developing new textiles and prints, prioritized in collaboration with cross-functional partnersThe staffing industry has seen an increase in people falsely representing themselves as recruiters to gather personal information from job seekers.
