Responsibilities and duties include ensuring access to and the quality and accuracy of the university’s e-resources.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Collaborate with the E-Resources and Discovery Librarian to activate new e-resources in discovery interfaces.
- Regularly review e-resources for access and coverage.
- Troubleshoot access and other issues reported by students, staff and faculty, such as platform changes and catalog and database downtime.
- Communicate regularly with vendors; Consortial Library Applications Support (CLAS) at the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP) Libraries and Towson University faculty and library staff regarding access to e-resources.
- Explain e-resources arrangements in catalog or web pages to groups, such as Research & Instruction Librarians; answer questions about e-resources from faculty, students and staff.
- Research and provide information on perpetual access for e-journals as an aid to collection, renewal, and format change decisions.
- Complete database clean-up assignments at the direction of the E-Resources Librarian.
Compile E-resources Statistics
Keep and compile e-resources usage statistics using current standards for e-resource usage statistics such as Counter 5.Prepare and maintain spreadsheets to be used in collection management decisions. Compile specific e-journal and other e-resources statistics as requested by faculty and the department head as needed for renewals and possible cancellations.Acquisitions Reconciliation And Review
Enter invoices into Alma for items purchased by two library associates with ProCards in the Content Management department.Receive all physical items in Alma through the receiving process.Reconcile purchases between Stratus and Alma receiving to ensure that audit requirements for the University System of Maryland are achieved.Qualifications And Skills
Baccalaureate Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and / or experience.Familiarity with database systems and troubleshooting large databases.High degree of competence with Excel spreadsheets.Demonstrated commitment to customer service and user satisfaction.Initiative, energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to supporting the academic and research needs of students, faculty and staff of the University.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently.Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities, technologies, operations, and other workplace circumstances.Demonstrated ability to use standard Windows and Internet applications.Attention to detail.Organization
