$90.00/hr - $100.00/hr

Our client is looking for an experienced Sound Effects Editor to help push the boundaries of what’s possible in immersive media. This position supports a growing internal sound team creating next-generation spatial experiences for an advanced mixed reality platform. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of art and technology, with a passion for storytelling through sound in surround and immersive formats.

Key Qualifications

• 7+ years of post-production experience with a focus on sound design and effects editing for surround and immersive formats (Dolby Atmos, Ambisonics, etc.)
• Proficient in Pro Tools and Soundminer, including metadata tagging and sound library organization
• Strong background editing multichannel recordings (5.1, 7.1, Ambisonic, etc.)
• A sharp ear for detail and a deep understanding of how sound shapes emotion and space
• Comfortable working on multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Agile and open to experimentation, especially within emerging media formats
• Technical curiosity with the ability to adapt to cutting-edge workflows and in-development tools
• Experience collaborating with creatives, technologists, and stakeholders across disciplines

Description

As a Sound Effects Editor, you’ll work closely with the internal Audio Lead and cross-functional teams to craft immersive audio experiences for mixed reality content. This role demands both creative intuition and technical expertise to build soundscapes that feel emotionally rich and spatially believable. You’ll edit and design for a range of genres, sometimes delivering rough premixes when needed. Whether crafting environments, designing unique effects, or organizing extensive libraries, your work will play a vital role in defining how people experience this new frontier of storytelling.

Education & Experience

• BA/BS or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with non-traditional formats like VR, interactive media, or game audio
• Experience with Reaper is a plus
• Understanding of multichannel recording techniques
• Comfortable using basic command line tools for launching apps and scripts
