Maintenance Technician - Water & Wastewater Systems

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater treatment plants and lift stations. This role works under the direction of a Supervisor or Lead Mechanic and plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment at treatment plants and lift stations
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules
• Operate and maintain boom trucks, generators, trailers, and other maintenance vehicles within city limits
• Transport and operate trailer-mounted generators during power outages
• Record maintenance and repair activities in a computerized asset management system
• Perform backflow testing once certified
• Follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors or lead mechanics
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, and materials used
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including emergency response situations
• Follow all safety procedures and properly use required PPE

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
• High School diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
• Willingness to work extended hours during emergencies when needed
