Assistant / Associate Professor – Director of Clinical Immunology & Flow Cytometry

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Pathology faculty member to serve as Director of Clinical Immunology, Serology, and Flow Cytometry at a premier academic medical center located in New York. This position is offered at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor level , commensurate with experience and academic record.
This high-visibility leadership role provides administrative, clinical, and academic oversight of a comprehensive Immunology, Serology, and Flow Cytometry laboratory within a major academic hospital. The successful candidate will join a strong and experienced clinical pathology faculty and will contribute to the clinical service, education, research, and institutional missions of the medical school and affiliated health sciences programs.

Key Responsibilities
Direct the Immunology, Serology, and Flow Cytometry laboratories within the Department of Pathology
Provide administrative and technical oversight of laboratory operations and personnel
Lead, mentor, and retain a team of experienced clinical laboratory scientists and technologists
Review and interpret immunology, serology, and flow cytometry test results
Ensure regulatory compliance with CLIA, CAP, FDA, and New York State Department of Health requirements
Design, validate, and implement new diagnostic assays and testing services
Stay current with emerging technologies including advanced serologic platforms and multiparameter flow cytometry panels
Provide consultative expertise to clinical teams across the health system
Teach medical students, residents, fellows, and health sciences trainees
Participate in scholarly activity and collaborative research in immunology, oncology, and clinical pathology
Serve on institutional, state, and national committees supporting the academic medical center mission
Candidate Qualifications
Required
Doctoral degree (PhD in a biomedical science, MD, or equivalent)
For MD candidates : New York State medical license or eligibility and American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical immunology, serology, and / or flow cytometry laboratory
Eligibility for New York State Department of Health Certificate(s) of Qualification as Technical Director in Diagnostic Immunology or equivalent experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Minimum of three supportive letters of recommendation
Preferred
MD candidates : Fellowship training in Hematopathology with documented flow cytometry experience
PhD candidates : Specialist in Cytometry (SCYM) with certification by the ASCP or equivalent
Certificate(s) of Qualification in Clinical Flow Cytometry including immunohematology, leukocyte function, and malignant or non-malignant immunophenotyping
Evidence of scholarly productivity in clinical pathology, immunology, oncology, or laboratory quality
One to two years of teaching experience in clinical pathology or related disciplines
Prior experience in administrative leadership roles within regulated clinical laboratories
