Senior Estimator

At A.L. Huber, our dynamic Pre-Construction team is where ideas become buildable plans. This team plays a critical role in shaping each project before ground is ever broken; translating client goals, technical requirements, budget constraints, and design intent into clear, actionable construction strategies. In the role of Senior Estimator, you'll have the opportunityto execute the pre-construction and estimating processes from go/no go decisions through project buy-outs for the projects assigned. You will represent A.L. Huber by executing and managing on behalf of the client to successfully complete quality projects on time and within budget. You'll also have the opportunity to maintain and build existing business relationships and generate new business relationships. Responsibilities of the Senior Estimator include:

• Responsible for the take-off and bid processes.
• Recommend software and toolsrequiredfor efficient,accurateestimation.
• Work with the architect and owner during the pre-construction and estimating process.
• Work to create a project schedule with the Project Manager, work to transition project to ProjectManagerandis responsible forensuring the project budget and schedule are met.
• Responsible forability tomeasure,initiateand implement work by external parties that resultsin meeting the project schedule.
• Demonstratesound engineering judgment, following building codes and abiding by the laws of the United States, the States and Cities in which the company does business. When asked for a judgment call, he/she will always ask, is this ethically appropriate.
• Carefully manage the intended outcome that balances ownerand architect expectations, budget,timeand cost limitations.
• TheEstimatoris in charge ofmaking decisions thatdeterminethe project'scostand success.
• Determine work priorities, including planning and coordinating work.
• Develop new control procedures and strategies for the attainment of improved productivity.Visualize the completedresults,from customer instructions.
• Make independent choices concerning matters of significance, such as whether to vary from prescribed standards, permitted tolerances, or normal procedures and sound ways if needbein order to achieve the customer's and A.L. Huber's project goals.
• Develop and build relationships with Clients, Owners Representatives, Architects, and Trade Partners with a focus to generate new opportunities.

Minimum skills and qualifications include:

• High school graduation or equivalent is required
• Work experience in the buildingconstruction,remodelingor construction project coordinationexperiencewith a strong, proven background in allfacetsof pre-construction and estimating.
• Minimum of 5 years of construction industry experience. Knowledge of all phases of building construction, including work commonly done by the various building crafts and a thorough understanding of electrical, mechanicaland structural systems.Knowledge of building materials and the ability to read blueprints. Extroverted personality with supervisory ability and the ability to guide the efforts of vendors andtrade partners.
• Demonstrates good judgement and able to have a working relationship with managers and other employees and able to tactfully handledifficult situations, make the best use of time during the workday and recognizes and deals with priorities
• Excellent grasp of the management of multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Outstanding memory and retention capabilities.
• Ability to use software suchtakeoff software, MS Project,project management software,Exceland Word, among others.
• Valid drivers license
