Transportation Administrator-Choose How You Move Project Manager
The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) is seeking a Transportation Administrator-Choose How You Move Project Manager.
Choose How You Move (CHYM), approved by 66% of voters in 2024, is Mayor O'Connell's transportation improvement program and the largest capital program in geographic scope and scale to be undertaken in Nashville's history. Implementation of the $3.1 billion in CHYM capital projects requires extensive collaboration among multiple Metro departments, project managers, and vendors; coordination of $111 million worth of annual operating expenditures; and robust engagement with neighbors. CHYM will transform how people move around the city for decades to follow.
CHYM includes installation of smart signals at nearly 600 intersections. It adds 24 / 7 / 365 transit service and builds 54 miles of high-capacity transit with more frequent, reliable, and accessible service. It builds 86 miles of sidewalks to ensure Nashville completes the WalkNBike Nashville priority sidewalk network and connects our busiest neighborhoods to major transit routes. The program makes safety improvements on 78 miles of the Vision Zero High-Injury Network, creating safer streets for pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers, and transit users alike.
The incumbent will be responsible for delivering a portfolio of Choose How You Move (CHYM) transportation projects from initiation to completion with a focus on scope, budget, schedule, and risk. The position will work with technical experts in planning, design, and construction to ensure complex projects are delivered in accordance with program goals. These goals are managed through the NDOT Assistant Director for Choose How You Move aligned with the CHYM Program Management team in the Mayor's Office. This position will work in a team setting where collaboration is key with internal NDOT staff, other agencies / departments such as the Mayor's Office, WeGo Public Transit, Planning, ITS, Water, NES, and external partners such as TDOT and contracted vendors. The position will also have an active role working with various communities and other stakeholders around the city. Performs related duties as required.
Typical Duties
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) years of experience in construction engineering or construction inspections and (5) years of increasingly responsible supervisory / lead experience and / or project management experience.
OR
Associate's Degree in a related field with eight (8) years of experience including three (3) years of increasingly responsible supervisory / lead experience and / or project management experience.
