Description
We are seeking a versatile and strategic HR Generalist to handle all manner of human resources responsibilities and meet recruiting goals. You will play a key role in mitigating organizational risk, maintaining compliance, and fostering a high-performance culture built on growth and development.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3-6 years of direct and progressive HR experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
- Professional certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of multistate labor laws, compliance standards, and payroll tax requirements
- Proficiency with ATS, HRIS, and payroll platforms
- Familiarity with efficiency, workflow, and communication software (Google Suite, Canopy, Slack, Zoom)
- Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, sourcing candidates and managing the candidate pipeline
- Conduct initial screenings and coordinate multi-stage interviews with hiring teams, ensuring a high-quality candidate experience
- Oversee the I-9 verification process, from documentation review to e-Verify engagement
- Facilitate the offer process, including compensation benchmarking, negotiations, background checks, and the generation of offer letters
- Collaborate with team members on a comprehensive onboarding program that integrates new hires into the company culture and ensures “time-to-productivity” is minimized
- Own the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll process for employees and contractors, ensuring 100% accuracy in withholdings, deductions, and tax filings
- Oversee international and domestic contractor payments, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with local labor laws
- Administer all state registrations, ensuring accurate information is filed with registration services and state agencies
- Monitor and respond to state tax and employment notices; Ensure the company is compliant with federal, state, and local labor laws
- Act as a risk gatekeeper by reviewing employment contracts, ensuring proper worker classification, and documenting all disciplinary or separation actions to defend against potential claims
- Maintain meticulous digital personnel files, ensuring data privacy and security of sensitive employee information
- Facilitate the review process, helping managers and supervisors identify high-potential employees and address performance gaps
- Drive initiatives that align with the company’s core values of growth and development, ensuring a high level of employee engagement and retention
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Ability to manage a complex workload with attention to detail and zero-error tolerance for payroll
- Ability to handle sensitive employee relations issues with professionalism and discretion; Can deliver difficult news or provide critical feedback to high-level stakeholders without damaging relationships
- Ability to provide clear, concise, and firm guidance to executives and managers, even in high-pressure situations
- Can articulate the “why” behind every HR policies to ensure buy-in across all levels of the organization
- A sharp eye for identifying red flags in employment contracts, worker classifications, or behavioral patterns that may lead to legal or financial liability
- Comfortable working independently on technical tasks while collaborating across teams to solve complex people problems
