JOB TITLE: Meter Reader
PAY: $17.85/HR.

Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
- May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects.
- Constantly, required to bend, stoop, squat, and walk from 8-15 miles per day in all types of weather.
- Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Two (2) years' experience working in the field entering data in to handheld and laptop computers which may include public contact.
LICENSESREGISTRATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
Essential Job Functions
- In a field environment, the Meter Reader is responsible for reading water meters on an assigned route and
- accurately recording readings.
- Conducts special readings as required, checking the functionality of meters, and
- reporting any defects or signs of tampering to a supervisor.
- Responsibilities further include turning water
- services on and off as needed, cleaning brush, dirt, or vines away from meter boxes using appropriate tools, and
- reposting defects, leaks, hazards, or incorrect field data to dispatch.
- Performs investigations at meter locations to
- verify details such as meter location and serial numbers, assesses whether the meter register is functioning
- correctly, and retrieves usage profile from meter endpoints for usage inquiries, billing disputes, or customer
- questions.
- Occasionally involves the need to lift, move, push, and/or pull sometimes heavy objects weighing up
- to 30 lbs.
- Tasks involving bending, stooping, squatting and walking are frequent.
- Performs related work as
- required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to gain knowledge of the geography of the County and navigate street locations.
- Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public.
- Ability to accurately use a handheld processor and a tough book computer to record meter information.
- Ability to perform service orders in the field.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic tough book computer issues.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
- Knowledge of working with hand tools, including but not limited to shovels, turnkeys, pliers, and
- screwdrivers.
- Working knowledge of personal security and situational awareness for workers who are alone in public.
