Desk Flood Adjuster
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Desk Flood Adjuster, you will be responsible for managing flood-related insurance claims from start to finish. Working primarily with residential flood claims, you'll review field documentation, assess damages, determine coverage, and issue fair settlementsall while ensuring compliance with policy guidelines. You'll work closely with policyholders, contractors, and field adjusters to provide timely and fair claims resolutions. You will handle both residential and possibly some small commercial flood claims under private flood programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and process flood claims in accordance with private flood company standards
- Analyze field adjuster reports, photographs, and policy language to determine coverage and extent of damage
- Communicate professionally with policyholders, agents, and contractors to gather information and explain claims decisions
- Ensure timely, accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory and internal procedures
- Make recommendations for claims payments or denials and draft settlement letters
- Collaborate with internal departments and support efficient claim resolution
- Maintain detailed records of all communications, decisions, and file activity
Requirements
3+ years of experience handling flood claims (NFIP claims strongly preferred)Active NFIP Authorization or ability to obtain one from 2024 to 2025 seasonStrong knowledge of flood insurance policies, estimating practices, and adjusting standardsProficiency in Xactimate, XactAnalysis, or other estimating tools and claims management systemsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentPreferred Qualifications
Experience with Xactimate or similar estimating softwarePrevious work with IA firms, TPAs, or flood carriersKnowledge of FEMA bulletins, manuals, and / or regulationsPrior experience in desk adjusting for major flood events
