Job Title FOCUS / WebFOCUS Developer

Location Tallahassee, FL - Hybrid (Local)

Education

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Equivalent work experience considered on a year-for-year basis.

Experience Required

  • 10+ years systems analysis & programming.
  • 5+ years FOCUS / WebFOCUS programming (including FOCUS 4GL, WebFOCUS Application Studio, Report Caster).
  • 3+ years Power BI development (Desktop, Paginated Reports, Dataflows).
  • 5+ years SQL (syntax, views, stored procedures).
  • 5+ years IBM Mainframe development (ISPF, JCL, COBOL, DB2 or similar).

    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

  • Expertise in developing / maintaining FOCUS / WebFOCUS programs and SQL Pass-through.
  • Skilled in Power BI Desktop and Paginated Reports development.
  • Proficient with SQL statements, views, and stored procedures (MS SQL Server, DB2).
  • Ability to analyze program flow, business logic, inputs / outputs, and database interactions.
  • Strong knowledge of mainframe systems and software (CICS, TSO, JCL, ISPF).
  • Independent problem-solving for custom application issues.
  • Planning, coordinating, and prioritizing programming tasks.
  • Collaboration with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Technical Architects.
  • Mentoring junior developers in WebFOCUS / FOCUS and Power BI.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

    • Preferred :

  • Experience with accounting / financial computing applications and external system interfaces.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or MIS.
  • Expertise in data conversion, cleansing, and validation techniques.
  • Familiarity with Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) system and internal FDOT applications.
  • Knowledge of Florida PALM financial application and related initiatives.
