As a Network Engineer Senior, the work you do at GDIT will be impactful, supporting the mission of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). In this role, you will be responsible for leading and designing seamless networking solutions, deploying innovative technologies, and mentoring other team members, ensuring mission success.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
- Installation, configuration, and support of an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet, and Internet, as well as other data communication systems or specific segments of a network system.
- Maintaining network hardware and software for consistent and optimized performance.
- Monitoring networks to ensure availability for all system users and performing necessary maintenance to maximize uptime.
- Coordinating and implementing network security measures while leading and mentoring junior and mid-level network engineers.
- Overseeing the network control center and providing support to ongoing network-related projects.
- Managing the full spectrum of complex network designs that encompass multiple technologies within a single network.
- Evaluating new network technologies and making recommendations to project managers regarding their integration.
- Planning network configurations for optimal performance and integration, taking into account system performance characteristics and network interface specifications.
- Ensuring adequate planning for hardware and communications facilities to support analysis, installation, and support of voice, video, and data communication systems.
- Translating business requirements into telecommunications designs that include LAN, MAN, WAN, voice, and video solutions.
- Designing and integrating new technologies into local and wide area networks, guiding users in formulating requirements, and leading feasibility studies.
- Incorporating and transitioning new network designs, developing architecture and design documentation, and providing advanced troubleshooting of complex network issues.
- Interacting with government stakeholders to address technical considerations and provide recommendations to resolve network-related problems.
- Overseeing the technical integrity of deliverables associated with network engineering while communicating effectively with program personnel, government representatives, and senior executives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience: +12 years of related experience (may substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education)
- Technical skills:Proven ability to mitigate risks, control costs, and manage large-scale, integrated projects effectively.Reviewing and approving network engineering documentation to ensure processes and specifications meet user and network needs.Coordinating network integration activities among multiple teams to ensure full coverage of all interfaces, while capturing designs in a standard interface control format.Experience analyzing user requirements, high-level system architectures, and network performance indicators to develop appropriate network specifications.
- Certifications:DoD .01-M IAT Level II/ Computing Environment (CE) Certification required prior to support on contract.IAT II / Baseline Certification: Security+ or equivalent.Required Computing Environment Certification: Minimum of CCNA at start, with CCNP to be obtained within days of start date (preference for candidates with CCNP on Day 1).
- Security Clearance: TS/SCI required
- Role Requirements:On-site support at the customer location.Willingness to attain a CI Polygraph for specific positions as determined by the contract.Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activityTravel may be required to support mission goals.
