Manager Of Labs Quality
The Manager of Labs Quality is responsible for the management, coordination and implementation of quality assurance, education, patient, client and physician satisfaction, and regulatory compliance for all laboratory sites. Quality assurance responsibilities include management of proficiency testing, review and compilation of incident report and complaint data, creation and coordination of ongoing QA activities in order to satisfy regulatory agency requirements. This position is responsible for staff education at all sites either managing directly, or through assigned staff, development and coordination of quality assurance, satisfaction, training programs, and quality control.

Collaborates with the laboratory management team and Medical Directors to integrate and consolidate laboratory services between SHC and LPCH in order to maintain or improve quality and reduce expense. Communicates new programs, operational changes, strategic plans and issues related to pediatric services to faculty, administration and staff. Acts as a liaison, represents and communicates pediatric laboratory services needs to Medical Directors and faculty and administration, hospital departments, physicians and outside clients and vendors as required.
Coordinates in-service education sessions for the laboratory technologists other laboratory staff. In collaboration with other management team members and supervisors, schedules time and dates for sessions, suggests topics, arranges for speakers and keeps records of such sessions. Maintains the laboratory's California CEU accreditation.
Ensures training, for compliance with all life-safety, quality and risk management procedures / policies / standards for the various institutions and in doing so becomes responsible for identifying, reporting, and correcting any potentially harmful conditions and / or behaviors. In collaboration with Medical Directors and Laboratory Management, chooses ongoing QA indicators and criteria for monitoring service from SHC, LPCH and outreach. Generates reports to track performance and quality improvement. Assists Directors, Managers and Medical Directors in developing section QA plans.
Collects and collates data and implements changes to resolve problems. Provides support for the creation of QA report for regulatory agencies. Prepares annual quality assurance report and submits for review. In collaboration with the CLS Education Coordinator, coordinates curriculum, schedules, training, testing and evaluation of Medical Technologist trainees. In collaboration with management team members and supervisors, schedules time and dates for training, arranges for speakers and keeps records of such sessions. Manages proficiency testing by overseeing selection and purchase proficiency testing materials, tracking and documenting results and, if required insuring that appropriate corrective action is implemented for discrepant results.
Oversees the investigation of laboratory related incident reports and notifications, in doing so, recommends corrective action and resolution of problems, drafts letters as assigned, condenses and summarizes data, and presents data for review and signatures. Resolves internal and external customer services issues. Collaborates with other laboratory managers to develop, implement and monitor changes to policies, procedures and programs required to meet the needs of inpatient, outpatient and outreach pediatric and adult services.
Serves as a point of contact, collaborates with, acts as a liaison to and communicates on a routine basis with physicians, clients, faculty, hospital staff, and hospital management to identify technical and operational customer requirements, service issues and opportunities for improving service. Communicates this information to laboratory management team in order to support the development of strategic plans in order to improve service related to pediatric services.
Education Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline / field from an accredited college or university
Experience Qualifications : Eight (8) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience with preferred license. or Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Licenses and Certifications : Highly preferred to have one of the following Licenses : CLS or CA Limited Scientist license or HLT or Pathologist Assistant (PA)
