We are seeking a skilled and motivated Surgical Pathologist to provide high-quality diagnostic services across diverse clinical settings in Fort Myers, Florida. Position Overview:
This is a dynamic position with responsibilities divided between two local laboratory environments, offering broad exposure and a varied caseload. The Surgical Pathologist will ensure safe, accurate, and efficient pathology services while maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform frozen section evaluations as required.
Render expert gross and microscopic diagnoses, incorporating molecular and genetic data when appropriate.
Provide diagnostic interpretation for biopsies and cytology, including gross and microscopic evaluation, dictation, and timely electronic case release.
Participate in a high-volume immunohistochemistry (IHC) interpretation service, including key predictive and prognostic biomarkers (e.g., PD-L1, c-MET, HER2, ER, PR, MMR, FOLR1, Claudin).
Fulfill delegated Medical Director responsibilities in anatomic and clinical laboratories.
Participate in day-to-day operational functions, including consultation, case sign-out, and communication with clinical teams across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical stages.
Review and interpret laboratory data.
Perform and support quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities.
Collaborate closely with technical, clinical, and administrative staff to uphold exceptional turnaround times, accuracy, and service quality.
Provide guidance to technologists and technicians on complex or challenging cases.
Build strong relationships with referring physicians and ensure excellent client communication and follow-up.
Qualifications:
Fellowship training in Surgical Pathology (general or subspecialty) strongly preferred.
At least 2 years of post-fellowship practice experience preferred, particularly in GYN, Thoracic, or Head & Neck pathology.
Active or eligibility for an unrestricted Florida medical license.
Additional medical licensure in NY or TX is a plus.
Ability to meet CLIA '88 requirements, if applicable.
