What We Need

We're seeking a seasoned radio news anchor with excellent writing skills, clear and conversational delivery, and a strong interest in local and state news.

What You'll Do

• Deliver radio newscasts
• Write news stories for multiple markets
• Maintain deadlines to provide news stories in a timely fashion
• Write clear and concise news copy
• Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire
• Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations
• Monitor sources for breaking news (wires and social media)
• Finalize content using digital audio editing software
• Must have general knowledge of all current events including but not limited to political, entertainment, sports and finance
• Repackage content from producers and field reporters for newscasts
• May be called on to anchor or report as needed
• Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift

What You'll Need

• Knowledge of the Mervin Block style of writing
• Ability to run your own audio board
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation and grammar
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented newsroom
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Must be willing to work weekends
• Previous on-air broadcast experience is preferred but not required
• Journalism degree is preferred but not required

Compensation

Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data.
