American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry position requiring a compact or VA RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications, and prior travel RN experience.
Responsibilities
Position is on a 28-bed Telemetry unit with a monitor tech, charge nurse each shift, and 24 / 7 nursing supervisor supportPatient population includes cardiac and neuro cases such as A-fib, NSTEMI / STEMI, CHF, CVA / TIA, various metabolic disorders, cardiac workup, post-cardiac cath, dialysis, AKI, and pulmonary edemaCare involves managing drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, Dopamine (no titration), and insulinUse of specialized lines / devices including TCDs, PICCS, midlines, CBI, and chest tubesOxygen delivery methods include nasal cannula, high flow, and trachTypical staffing includes one to two patient care techs based on census12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday requiredResponsibilities include initial and ongoing patient assessment, plan of care development, medication administration, and patient teachingCoordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and provide clinical management of multisystem conditionsMust adapt quickly to changing patient conditions and act as a patient safety advocateSupport staff availability includes a monitor tech, charge nurse, and medic for difficult IV placementsPass / fail EKG test required on first day with two attempts and study guides providedHoliday and weekend shifts are mandatoryEpic EMR training is available but not required prior to startRequirements
Current VA or compact RN license requiredAt least 2 years of recent experience in Telemetry or a related areaAt least 1 year of prior travel RN experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia / EKG exam at orientationCannot be considered if residing within 50 miles of the facilityBenefits
