Job Title : Permanent Pathologist Assistant

Location : Newburgh, NY 12550

Shift : Per Diem

Job Summary : Under the supervision and direction of the Medical Director of the Laboratory and / or other licensed Pathologist, the Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) prepares and performs the gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens.

Job Responsibilities :

• Prepares tissue for pathological tests including frozen section diagnosis, cytology specimens, muscle biopsies, ACE specimens, and renal biopsies.
• Photographs gross and microscopic specimens and assists in preparation of educational conferences.
• Performs postmortem examinations (
• Assist with gross description, dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissue for processing.
• Obtain biological specimens for analysis and perform special procedures.

Education / Training - Bachelor’s Degree from a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program; Master of Health Science from a NAACLS Pathologists' Assistant Program preferred

Experience : Previous related experience including surgical pathology, autopsy dissection, histology procedures / techniques, gross dissection of surgical specimens, frozen sections and post-mortem examinations, preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently required.

Licensure : NYS pathology assistant license required. AAPA fellowship or ASCP certification required.
